Building Village-Level Bio-Input Centres for Climate-Resilient Farming

Gandhi Fellow Peeyush, from Rajasthan (Batch 17), holds an M.Sc. in Horticulture (Vegetable Science) from Allahabad Agricultural University, Prayagraj and is currently working in Madhya Pradesh under the School of Climate & Sustainability program.

During his field immersion in Sehore, he observed a growing crisis—rising chemical input costs, declining soil health, and increasing climate vulnerability. Farmers wanted alternatives but lacked access to affordable organic inputs and practical training.

To address this, Peeyush initiated village-level Bio-Input Resource Centres (BRCs)—local hubs where progressive farmers produce natural inputs like Jeevamrit and bio-pesticides. These centres reduce dependency on chemicals while serving as live demonstration spaces for natural farming practices.

The initiative aims to establish five centres across five villages, directly supporting 600–700 farmers and impacting nearly 625 acres of farmland. By localising input production, farmers can reduce cultivation costs by up to 50–60%, improve soil fertility, and strengthen climate resilience.

Through this initiative, Peeyush is enabling a shift toward regenerative, sustainable agriculture systems—where environmental restoration and farmer prosperity go hand in hand.
